The Sunflowers

As part of our IPC theme “Houses and Homes” we go the sunflowers, who are now beading plate experts to make a home using the beads. They had to take a lot of things into account. How many beads to use, size and thickness so that it would stick when ironed. How many windows in each house, doors? A few even decided to make a skyscraper. Then from this pushed themselves even further and started to make a skyscraper landscape view. The sunflowers are really good at challenging themselves and always bounce ideas of each other.

Lilies

The Lilies had their knowledge harvest, our IPC theme is food so we asked them what food they like, what their parents prepare at home. They all loved to share something about themselves and what they like. They got really excited talking about their favorite foods and asked when we can start cooking together at school. We have a lot of recipes we want to try.

The sunflowers

Today the sunflowers were introduced to their new hospital area in the pretend room. They played being sick while a team of doctors treated their patients. The hospital was very busy with “sick people”. “It’s an emergency” said Ester.

The sunflowers

Today the sunflowers were introduced to our new IPC theme, Houses and Homes. They spoke and shared what we knew about homes. What materials homes can be built from. We spoke about our own homes, homes around the world. We used VR googles to go around the ice hotel and a basic house. The children then got to draw their fantasy home.

Sunflowers

SOLAR SYSTEM

The Sunflowers spent lots of time exploring the Solar System
and it’s planets, starting from the outer edge, where Kupier Belt is.
We explored not only planets colours, but also discussed them
one by one during IPC circle times. We’ve seen internal structure,
counted how many moons each has got, discussed their sizes and
compared densities… it’s been a very long journey! We painted
them one at the time over this year, adding personal touches to
them - do they reflect light? Maybe we can use glitter! How do
we paint it so it looks like it’s very windy? What colours
can we mix to get this colour? It’s been a lot of fun and learning,
slowly flying towards the sun.
