Sunflowers
Last Thursdays the Sunflowers had a fantastic another fantastic outing! It was our time to visit the Stockholm Transport Museum.
We started our journey very early in the morning with the help of two parents who accompanied us on this trip. After changing three different means of transportation- the train, the subway and the bus, we finally came to our final destination. Our travel back- in-time had started! While visiting the museum, we saw several different means of transportation like buses, trams and boats all the way back from the past centuries up to present time. We had so much fun entering old buses, streetcars, boats and trying to imagine the past and the way people lived then. We also had our circle time in one of the old buses and it was a great experience for all of us. We ended our trip with a train ride inside the museum which we all enjoyed very much!

Sunflowers
Today the children made oatmeal cookies (with raisins). They took turns measuring out the ingredients and mixing the batter. They they created a recipe page for the Sunflowers' “Cook Book”. For this they drew pictures of oatmeal cookie, our sunflowers are the illustrators of our new cook book. They also reviewed the newly covered “H” sound. They practised tracing upper and lower case letters as well as reviewing words that start with “H” such as hat.
We have been working on the following Lpfö goals:
“Develop their understanding of the basic properties of set, quantity , order and number concepts, also for measurements time and change.”
develop an interest in the written language and an understanding of symbols and communicative function”

Sunflowers
Today the Sunflowers learned about plant and growth: from the seed stage to full growth and then decay. In their respective groups they placed black bean with water to watch them slowly sprout throughout the weeks. The children also enjoyed drawing the plant life cycle, which encouraged the children to grasp the concept by describing it in a drawing. They learned about the flora and fauna of the rainforest! They also explored the cycle of a butterfly and the importance of every stage.
We have been working on the following Lpfö goals: “develop their understanding of science and chemical processes and physical phenomena.”
