Sunflowers

It was backwards Friday. Most of the children wore their clothes backwards. We stood in circle time instead of sitting. Walked backwards. Learned our names backwards, which they thought was really funny. We ate salad last instead of first. We said goodnight instead of good morning.
Lpfö goals:
Develop their motor skills
Develop their curiosity, and enjoyment

Family portraits

In the Tulips we have been working with families. Today the children got to make their own portraits of a family member. Using colored paper, yarn, glue and loads of imagination they managed to create beautiful works of arts.
Lpfö 98: "develop their ability to build, create and construct using different techniques, materials and tools"

                                                            Germination
As a part of Jack and Bean Stalk Story we planted our very own black Brazilian beans. We made a small nest out of white cotton balls which we put inside plastic transparent cups. Afterwards, we added the beans, watered them and put them next to the window close to the sunlight. After a week we were very happy and surprised to see the result, a big green beanstalk was there in the cup. The process of germination in action!

We have been working on the following Lpfo goals:
develop their understanding of science and relationship to nature, as well as knowledge of plants, animals, and also simple chemical processes and physical phenomena

We have been working on the following lpfö goals:

Develop their creative activities and ability to convey impressions
Develop their understanding of space, shapes, location...and the basic properties of sets.

 COLOR MIXING SIGHT EXPERIMENT
26th January 2016

After talking about the importance of eyes and how they help us to see, this week we decided to see what happens when we mix the two colors.
Lilies did an Hand on experience to see that when two colors were mixed they made a new color. They put the shaving cream in the zip lock bag and then poured two different colours.
We locked it and saw how both the colours mixed to form a new colour.
It was an amazing visual experience for our lilies !!!

We’ve been working with the following Lpfö goals:

Develop their understanding of science and relationships to nature, as well as knowledge of plants, animals and also simple chemical processes and physical phenomena

Develop their ability to distinguish, explore, document, put questions about and talk about science

Likes and dislikes

Today we started talking about likes and dislikes. The Tulips got to look at different colors and see I'd they could find their favorite. We also looked at a reading of a book; "Yummy yucky". This was about things that we like and dislike or things that tastes yummy or yucky. The children seemed to enjoy it a lot!
Lpfö: develop their use of spoken language, vocabulary and concepts, as well as the ability to play with words, relate something, express their thoughts, put questions and put forward their arguments and communicate with others
