SOLAR SYSTEM

The Sunflowers spent lots of time exploring the Solar System
and it’s planets, starting from the outer edge, where Kupier Belt is.
We explored not only planets colours, but also discussed them
one by one during IPC circle times. We’ve seen internal structure,
counted how many moons each has got, discussed their sizes and
compared densities… it’s been a very long journey! We painted
them one at the time over this year, adding personal touches to
them - do they reflect light? Maybe we can use glitter! How do
we paint it so it looks like it’s very windy? What colours
can we mix to get this colour? It’s been a lot of fun and learning,
slowly flying towards the sun.

Maths and IT Day
Lilies work with shapes, numbers, patterns, sizes and they do adding using different little toys…
The 7th of March is “The International Maths Day”. In the morning we made crafts recycling colorful sheets of paper cut into all the shapes that we studied last weeks (triangles, squares, rectangles and circles). We counted together (from 1 to 20) using tiny and big balls and we started to do adding (like 2+2=4).
In the afternoon we had some activities outside! In our first station the game was to find set amount of things (3 spades, 6 baskets, 15 leaves, 7 stones) and bring them back to the teachers. Another activity was to find Snoopy that has the same pattern (if a child had a Snoopy with cherry pattern, he/she needed to find the same). It was very funny for the children because they played <hide and seek> and at the same time they learned patterns and they counted all the different little pictures on Snoopy.
