Lilies

SLIME / OOBLECK: TOUCH AND FEEL ACTIVITY”

Lilies had a lot of fun making slime, playing with it and trying  to get the touch and feel of it. We mixed water with cornstarch and food colouring and created the mixture. The mixture was called slime.
Slime is a non-newtonian fluid. That is, it acts like a liquid when being poured, but like a solid when a force is acting on it. You can grab it and then it will ooze out of your hands turning into a liquid and light on the fingers giving a very strange feel.

develop their motor skills, ability to co-ordinate,awareness of their own body, as well as an understanding of the importance of maintaining their own healthy and well-being
develop their ability to build, create and construct using different techniques, materials and tools
develop their understanding of science and relationship to nature, as well as knowledge of plants, animals and also simple chemical processes and physical phenomena

Egg Hunt and Easter Bunnies, boiled Egg Colouring in Food colour and Vinegar

This was a Easter week, where we concentrated on doing easter related activities. The three big hits were the easter bunnies, the Egg hunt and colouring the Boiled eggs.
Since, we were doing puppets it was the best time to make puppets. We used socks and filled it with felt cloth to stuff it and make it round. We then tied beautiful ribbons around the waist and the neck to give the shape of his body. The lilies later put the google eyes and pom pom nose with the help of glue gun.
The lilies were happy and so were the bunnies !!
For egg hunt on Wednesday, we used the app “Aurasma” the children took part in a very fun and modern Easter hunt. Using the ipads the children were able to scan images found around the school and see videos of themselves giving clues as to where to find the Easter basket.
They really loved this and enjoyed playing detectives! They were happy to find a coloured plastic egg, sticker, banana chips and box of dried fruit.

Tulips

The Tulips dyed eggs for Easter!

We mixed blue, red, green and yellow food colouring with warm water and vinegar, in a mug. Then we took turns holding a spoon and lowering our egg into our mug. We waited excitedly to see our egg change colour! We were very impressed by the transformation.

Lpfö goals: feel a sense of participation in their own culture and develop a feeling and respect for other cultures.

Lilies

Jolly Phonics

It's amazing to see how fast the kids pick and learn everything in fun way. Jolly Phonics made fun and presented to the lilies in the last term and few of them have started blending and making 3 letter words. They recognize the sounds and blend them slowly to read it together. They also put the cards together to form a word.
While the other beginner group has started learning the jolly phonics and are showing a wonderful response.

Lpfö goals:

develop their use of spoken language, vocabulary and concepts as well as the ability to play with words, relate something, express their thoughts, put questions, and put forward their arguments and communicate with others.
